Detailed description of The International Golf Club, Oaks Course, CLOSED 2020

The International Golf Club is a 36 hole golf facility located in Bolton, Massachusetts. The facility has two 18-2020hole golf courses. They are The Pines Course and The Oaks Course. The Pines course is a members only course. The Oaks course is a Semi-private course, available to members and their guests, tournament and outing play, lodge and event guests and select times for public play.

The Pines course originally consisted of 66 acres of open farmland converted to a nine-hole course. In 1901, Runaway Brook Golf Club Corporation was founded and purchased the land for $1, thus establishing the formal beginning of The International.

In 1954 Bert Suprenant purchased Runaway Brook G.C., then hired Geoffrey Cornish, with input from Francis Ouimet and others, to design the regulation course that exists today. ITT purchased the course in 1961 and six years later renamed the course The International Golf Club.

In 1972, Robert Trent Jones Sr. was hired to modify many of the slick greens and challenging bunkers and made it not only the longest course in the world and also one of the most difficult.

Ownership was later passed to Starwood Hotels & Resorts, who subsequently sold the club to principal owner Daniel Weadock and limited partner Brian Lynch in 1999.

In 2001, The International added a new course, the Tom Fazio designed masterpiece known as The Oaks.

The course closed in May 2020.

The Weadock family owns the International, which is home to two private 18-hole courses, and the abutting Twin Springs, a nine-hole public course. The courses reportedly closed because of a bankruptcy filing by the Weadock family.

course was in fair shape, wish they had told us they were aerating the greens when we booked. If you wanted to treated like a second class citizen, this is the place to go. A number of times we were asked private or are you playing the public course. pro shop staff let you know you were on the "public "course. Not appreciated at all. I certainly will never go back based on us playing the "public" course. restaurant was not open, would have been nice to know that too. I would much rather travel to Pine Hills in Plymouth Mass and have the staff welcome us to be there.

Would travel: 0-10 Miles
